Responsible for:The overall management and supervision of the plant's Information Technology (IT) and Management Information systems (MIS)

Responsible to: The Managing Director.

Basic Job Summary: A new ultra-modern plant producing its own range of Infant Formula milk powder. These products have quickly established themselves in the marketplace with a reputation for excellence.
The IT Manager will be responsible for the overall management and supervision of the whole IT process fromspecifying and sourcing software and hardware to recruiting suitably skilled team members

Main duties and responsibilities:


1. To
provide leadership management and guidance including the development of overall information technology strategy as well as implementation of a company-wide computing system and network infrastructure

2. To Design, develop and maintain an information technology infrastructure, including the design, development and maintenance of the network infrastructure supporting connectivity for office, factory and staff

3. To specify, implement and maintani computing resources and applications provided through the network and file and application servers

4. To deploy and maintain system infrastructure, including servers and software environments; design and support an overall intranet infrastructure supporting internal and external web-based computing requirements; develop an information technology plan for the new facilities as needed.

5. To constantly seek new ways to improve the plants IT efficiency and cost effectiveness.

6. To manage and oversee the maintenance and servicing of the plant's IT infrastructure to minimise down times and maximise the efficiency and working life of all IT equipment and software

7. To set up working systems which minimises down time

8. To constantly explore and implement methods of continuous improvement

9. To be actively involved with the senior management in the development of new services

10. To handle all issues related to IT and MIS systems including Accounting interfaces

11. To suitably train and motivate all IT staff as required.

12. To provide regularweekly IT information and performance reports.

14. Responsible for the hiring (and firing) of all IT staff.

15. To devise a budgeted cyclical maintenance and servicing plan for the plant's IT and MIS Systems to ensure their efficient and effective operation.

16. To order all spare parts for IT equipment as necessary.

17. To play an active role in senior management decision making

18. To act as an ambassador for the company��s products at all times.

19. To handle all disciplinary matters with respect to the IT workforce in accordance with company policy and local labour laws.

20. To carry out any relevant tasks as directed by the Managing Director

21. Develop long-range computing plans to include providing adequate and accessible computer facilities, improving networking of units, inclusion of computing technology training to ALL staff, and provision for sufficient technical staff.

22. Maintain interface with departmental users in the selection and set-up of major computing applications appropriate for supporting departmental activities

23. Facilitate communication between users to develop information sources for meeting individual departmental computing needs

24. Develop and maintain computing standards relative to an overall strategy to provide an appropriate degree of standardization

.25.. Coordinate regularly with information technology staff supporting departmental computer users to ensure that technology, infrastructure and long-range planning requirements are met and supported.

26. Serve on various factory committees as appropriate and coordinate computing initiatives with other areas of the factory

27. Maintain liaison with representatives of other group companies computer operations to ensure utilization of current principles and techniques.

28. Recommend various personnel actions including hiring and performance appraisals of information technology staff.

MINIMUM HIRING SPECIFICATIONS

EDUCATION/TRAINING

Bachelor's degree in mathematics, computer science, or a computer-related field, or equivalent course work in technical training OR AN EQUIVALENT COMBINATION OF RELEVANT EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
